B.52 Epic Tour Mortirolo
A spectacular tour leading to the famous Mortirolo Pass, along a truly unique return route to Aprica. Ascend along the tarmac road leading to Pian di Gembro, with beautiful views of the peat bog plane. Continue towards Trivigno, until you reach the military dirt road. The path presents moderate gradients, never more than 12%. After Trivigno continue along the paved road until Lago Lagazzuolo, then until Passo del Mortirolo. Go back along the same route, until Valico Salena. From here descend towards Doverio (a hamlet of Corteno Golgi); this paved descent is sometimes quite steep (15-20% gradients), but very beautiful and panoramic.
Before reaching the hamlet, leave the paved road when it bends to the left; now take the dirt/concrete road that leads to Prena. But the ascent isn't over yet! After an elevation difference of around 250 metres, you'll come to a stretch of the route characterised by a series of ups and downs. The last 5 km of the itinerary are on paved road.
