From Aprica take the SS39 road towards Sondrio. Just past the town, bear left, following directions for Diga di Ganda and Rifugio Cristina. Continue along a mostly paved road, with a few stretches of dirt road, pass Rifugio Cristina, up to Palazzina Falck, preceded by the imposing wall of the Frera Dam, where you'll park your car.

From Palazzina Falck take the itinerary leading to laghi di Torena, initially along a dirt road. Now ascend a few steep ramps and continue along a series of bends to gain altitude with relatively little effort. Go past Malga Fraitina (1700 m asl) and at Malga "Ial dei Fiori" you'll find a fountain, where you can fill your water bottle up. Here the dirt road becomes a path, and the ascent continues, with beautiful panoramic views of Val Belviso and Lago Belviso, leading to Malga Torena and its lakes. The first is also the biggest: Lago Nero with its unmistakable island. Past the Malga you'll come to Lago Verde in just a few minutes.
