Winter in Aprica is essentially associated with skiing.

Above all it is one of the few resorts with ski runs ending in the village, reachable on foot and where you can end the skiing day with skis on your feet. Besides it is one of the areas in the alpine arc that is blessed with a more favourable snow fall. Wind in Aprica is very rare and the moderate altitude makes the temperature, even on the more rigid days, more tolerant.

Set in an east-west direction, it offers 18 lifts and more than 50 km of downhill slopes (of which about 80% are equipped with artificial snow making facilities) which you can find on the south of the locality. The ski area is not only ideal for families and children, but also for advanced skiers, which have at their disposal several very good runs, that from the peak run through the woods before coming out onto fields near the village. The characteristics of the snow for the entire winter season are very good.

Like during the rest of the year, in the winter months the sun shines in the locality (it is no coincidence that Aprica means sunny), guaranteeing good sun tans. For this reason, on the ski runs there are sun terraces and places where you can eat..

Winter does not only mean alpine skiing: Aprica and the nearby area offers more than 14 km of cross country trails, in Pian di Gembro, Trivigno and Magnolta, all in very suggestive surroundings.

Besides, an alternative or to complete a day's skiing, Aprica in winter has ice skating rinks, an artificial ice climbing wall, various ski mountaineering routes or snow shoe excursions, a swimming pool and wellness centres.

To complement the offer, there are various entertainments programmed like tastings of typical dishes accompanied by the prestigious wine from the Valtellina.

Alpine skiing, snowboard and telemark are taught by a number of instructors in the two active ski schools.
